Aortic Aneurysms
Who's At Risk?
Those at greatest risk for aortic aneurysms include men over age 60, smokers, individuals
with high blood pressure, atherosclerosis, chronic obstructive lung disease or a
family history of aneurysms, and those with connective tissue disorders, bicuspid
aortic valves, and inherited conditions such as Marfan syndrome and Ehlers-Danlos
syndrome. Women also suffer aortic aneurysms, but they usually occur about 10 years
later in life, from ages 75 to 85.
