Special Services

Healing Gardens
Cancer patients, organ transplant patients and others undergoing lengthy treatment for serious illnesses often need a place away from the clinical environment of their treatment. The Healing Gardens, adjacent to The Lied Transplant Center, provide patients and families a tranquil environment in a beautifully landscaped, peaceful outdoor setting for relaxation, quiet reflection and conversation. You may access The Healing Gardens from The Lied Transplant Center.

Hearing Impaired
The Nebraska Medical Center provides services such as TTY/TDD/ADD, telephone with amplified receiver or an assisted listening device. If interested, please ask your nurse to contact Interpretive Services. Please return these items to the nurse when you are discharged. Your room television is equipped with closed caption.

Interpretive Services
It is the goal of Interpretive Services to facilitate necessary communication services for all patients and employees at The Nebraska Medical Center. If you require an interpreter or have other language needs, please call 559-8697.

Nebraska House
Extended inpatient and outpatient treatment may create a variety of needs for housing. Nebraska House, a guest facility located adjacent to The Nebraska Medical Center University in The Lied Transplant Center, has limited accommodations for patients and family or friends who may have accompanied you here. Rooms may be rented on a daily basis, as available. A limited number of apartments are also available for patients and family who may be here for extended periods of time.

Potter's House, for patients and families, and Ronald McDonald House, for families of pediatric patients, are located close to the Nebraska Medical Center campus. In addition, several area motels offer discounted rates to The Nebraska Medical Center families when Nebraska House is full. You must arrange for the room through Nebraska House to be eligible for discounted rates.
